Praying

How to pray

  • Prayer is relationship, not performance.

  • It is attention + honesty + availability.

  • You do not need the “right words.”

Prayer can feel awkward at first - this is normal!

You might be second guessing yourself. You may not know where to begin or if God is listening. You might even question whether prayer matters.

These are completely normal thoughts, you are not alone!

Prayer is about relationship, not performance. Jesus tells us to pray in our inner rooms, showing that He doesn't see this as something we should do to bring attention to ourselves. It is about our opportunity to participate in our relationship with God.

Spoiler alert, God already knows you - like, really knows you. He already loves you and wants to listen to you.

So what are you waiting for? Your Father loves you and is looking to connect - get started!

5-Minute Prayer Template

What happens when you don't feel anything?

Prayer is about the relationship, and relationships take work! It is not measured by emotion or having some massive epiphany after you pray. Consistency matters more than feelings, communication and participation in your relationship with God. Silence is not the same thing as absence. Please keep praying and know that you are heard.

Rhythm Matters - build yours!

Look for consistency in prayer to get the most out of it.

  • Same Place, Same Time

  • Start Small

  • Five minutes each day > one hour once a month

  • Any prayer > no prayer at all
