Anglican/Protestant Rosary
The Anglican Rosary — also called Anglican Prayer Beads — is a simple, adaptable tool for Christian prayer developed in the 1980s by a group of Episcopal contemplatives. Smaller than the traditional Catholic Rosary, it carries no Marian devotion, making it a natural fit for Christians across many traditions who want a tactile rhythm for prayer and meditation.
The beads slow us down. Each one is an invitation to be fully present — to God, to Scripture, to the moment.
Layout of the rosary
The Anglican Rosary is made up of 33 beads and a cross — recalling the 33 years of Christ's earthly life.
✞ The Cross — Where every prayer begins. Hold it and welcome God's presence.
◈ The Invitatory Bead — A call to worship; the doorway into the circle of prayer.
● 4 Cruciform Beads — Spaced evenly around the circle, they form an invisible cross within the loop.
• 28 Week Beads — Divided into four groups of seven, recalling the seven days of creation and the days of the week.

The prayers of the rosary
Traditional Prayer
✞ Cross (Opening): O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
◈ Invitatory Bead Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
● Cruciform Beads (The Lord's Prayer): Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
● Week Beads (The Jesus Prayer): Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
● Last Cruciform Bead: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Amen.
◈ Dismissal Bead: Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.
✞ Cross (Closing): The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, bless us and keep us. Amen.
Serenity prayer
✞ Cross (Opening): God take and receive my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my will.
◈ Invitatory Bead All that I am and all that I have, you have given me.
Amen.
● Week Beads: God grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
● Last Cruciform Bead: Let me live one day at a time and enjoy one moment at a time.
◈ Dismissal Bead: Let me accept hardships as the pathway to peace, taking this world as it is, not as I would have it.
✞ Cross (Closing): Let me trust that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will. Amen.
Healing Prayer
✞ Cross (Opening): Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
◈ Invitatory Bead: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
● Cruciform Beads: O God of heavenly powers, by the might of your command you drive away from our bodies all sickness and all ill-health. Be present in your goodness with your faithful servants, that their weakness may be banished and their strength restored, that their health be renewed, and they may bless your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
● Week Beads: Heavenly Father, giver of life and health, comfort and relieve your sick servants and give your power of healing to those in need, that they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care.
● Last Cruciform Bead The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.
◈ Dismissal Bead: Father, thank you for hearing me. You always hear me.
✞ Cross (Closing): May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us. Amen.
